I played l4d2 at a lanparty yesterday, they installed windows 7 ultimate before the start, it worked like a charm

Yup same here, Windows 7 is far more stable than XP or Vista. Only had 2 crashes that weren't recoverable in some way without a restart. Check his L4D2 settings I used to have issus with multi-core rendering on XP, while it may not be that if he looks at each part he may find the actual cause.

He could if he wasn't so stubborn...You know as much as I do how stubborn M7U can be xD

Yeah, multi-core rendering was a problem for me as well when I first played L4D2 but the thing is, he can't even get past the opening movie so he can't really do anything with it.

I believe there may be a launch option to turn off multicore rendering or a high performanbce autoexec.
